Key bumping is a big number of all brake in cases in New York City. Key bumping is when thieves take a key that just fits and gives it a few blows with a wrench hammer or small screw driver. This shakes the cylinder and allows for the key to hit the right spots opening the door within seconds.
There are several ways to stop this from happening, and one is to buy and change all the locks for stronger locks that have proper systems in place.
Also in the video below is a demonstration tutorial of a product from the UK called Pickbuster. That would be a less expensive solution than changing the locks. The product has to be installed in the lock to act lick a shock absorber.
